The journey from Hobart to the Tasman Peninsula has long been a staple of both locals and tourists. Magnificent landscapes, lush country side and spectacular natural features all await making this one of Tasmania’s great self drive tours.

We set off from close to the Hobart airport, passing through Sorell before turning right and heading south east onto Dunalley, Nubeena, Eagle Hawk Neck and of course Port Arthur. Along the way there are so many spectacular natural features.  Amongst others, your Take A Local guided tour will take you to the Tessellated Pavement the Blow Hole where water blasts through a gap in the rock face.  Throw in Doo-Town for a bit of fun and you have the makings of a fantastic tour.

Visit Cape Roul and the infamous Shipstern Bluff where big wave surfers come to play and sit in awe of the towering sea cliffs.  While you’re there keep an eye out for migrating whales.

The UNESCO World Heritage Port Author historic site is a must visit.  Not only a place of such big convict era significance, the site is also one of reflection on more recent events.  Stunning ruins and stories of early colonial Tasmanian history awaits.
